Zimbabwe bail-out

It is very difficult to make head or tail of what is happening in Zimbabwe today. Apart from the usual ranting from Mugabe, his desperate bribes to shore up waning support and the useless posturing of the AU, the mystery surrounding the South African loan to Zimbabwe is deepening.

According to Zimbabwe sources, they are negotiating a loan and not asking for a gift; Mugabe is trying very hard to hide the fact that Zimbabwe is bankrupt (thanks to his policies) and is desperately insisting that he will not accept conditions.

On the other hand, Mbeki must show his country and the opposition that he is not giving the money away and will demand a shift in Zimbabwe politics in exchange for a financial bail-out.

Among these conflicting declarations, I am sorry to say I find myself in agreement with one of the most unreliable, corrupt and revolting persons to have ever joined Zanu PF (now independent MP): Mr. Jonathan Moyo.

"The only option left for Mugabe and his Zanu-PF government is to take an early constitutional exit by resigning now and giving Zimbabweans a peaceful, democratic and constitutional opportunity to talk to each other and resolve the country's worst crisis in living memory,"
