Germany opts out

The invaluable contribution of NATO to the stabilization of Afghanistan, is being hindered by Germany:

German reservations have slowed down Nato’s plans to expand its Afghan mission for eradicating poppy-growing and the hunt for al-Qaeda and Taliban fugitives.

As shameful as Zapatero.

But Nato officials have also let it be understood that they will wait until the German elections on September 18 before finalising the deployment plans for Afghanistan.

Good idea: both Germany and Afghanistan need a fresh start.
