Mugabe’s new tricks

This sounds like a county fair trick:

A RADICAL paradigm shift is on the cards in the way the country prepares its national budget, a Government official has said. For the 2006 Budget, which is due in November, Zimbabwe will move away from the usual shopping list budget to an output-based one, the Minister of Economic Development, Mr Rugare Gumbo, told the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Budget, Finance and Economic Development on Monday.

Mr Gumbo said the country was faced with a number of challenges, making it imperative for the country to start on a clean slate and come up with a unique economic model.

And this will no doubt be the highlight of next week UN Summit in New York:

PRESIDENT Mugabe is expected to launch Zimbabwe's Millennium Development Goals Report tomorrow, which highlights progress the country has made in development

Zimbabwe like other nations in the United Nations (UN) family undertook to report on progress on the implementation of the MDGs to the UN secretary general on an annual basis.

The briefing on Zimbabwe progress should last approximately 5 seconds.
