Democrats lie and forget
After weeks and months of media induced martyrdom, President Bush finally attacked the Democrats for their dishonest attempts to rewrite history!
"The stakes in the global war on terror are too high and the national interest is too important for politicians to throw out false charges," the president said in his combative Veterans Day speech.
Instapundit gets it right:
Patriotic people could -- and did -- oppose the war. But so did a lot of scoundrels. And some who supported the war were not patriotic, if they did it out of opportunism or political calculation rather than honest belief. Those who are now trying to recast their prior positions through dishonest rewriting of history are not patriotic now, nor were they when they supported the war, if they did so then out of opportunism --which today's revisionist history suggests.
Sen. Kennedy Said Saddam Hussein Was Developing WMDs: "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." (Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), Remarks At The Johns Hopkins School Of Advanced International Studies, Washington, D.C., 9/27/02)

Sen. Kennedy Now Says The President Manipulated Facts About Iraq's WMDs: "'Instead of providing open and honest answers about how we will achieve success in Iraq and allow our troops to begin to come home,' Kennedy said, 'the president reverted to the same manipulation of facts to justify a war we never should have fought.'" No wonder the Senator is confused, he must have burned out two thirds of his brain cells with booze, but someone should restrain him. He is clearly unable to look after himself or go around without adult supervision.
And no wonder with people like that in their ranks the Dems have to recur to lying to offer some kind of opposition. Listening to Kennedy, Kerry or Carter you tend to believe them when they say "we had no pre-war intelligence"; neither they have now.
In the end, it would be easier for the Democrats to repeat (aren't they doing it already?) what the president of Iran, Ahmadinejad, says:
The US lacks staying power and Bush is an aberration in contemporary American history. All that the Islamic Republic needs to do is wait until the Bush presidency is either politically destroyed by its opponents in Washington or comes to the end of its term. Then, once Bush is crippled or gone, no American leader would have the stomach for a fight with Iran.
